TITLE: Distribution Supervisor
BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Supervise warehouse shipping, receiving, and/or replenishment activities and personnel on one shift to ensure that all functions are performed within Company, Distribution Center, and Department guidelines as outlined in Distribution Center Operations Manual.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the work force in the accomplishment of the day-to-day assignments
- Conducts daily pre-shift and post-shift inspection of the work area to identify and remove any work flow impediments
- Oversees pallet assembly to ensure stores receive the cases they ordered, on well-built pallets, and securely wrapped before being loaded onto trailers
- Resolves inventory discrepancies and issues credits to stores when appropriate
- Ensures steady work flow through the warehouse via routine spot checks on progress of associates and adjusts manpower to increase efficiency
- Keeps abreast of the volume of work, issues work assignments and follows through to assure completion within schedules, and acceptable standards
- Works with Superintendent to ensure that safety, security, sanitation and pest control codes, laws, and policies are maintained
- Ensures associates have equipment needed to perform their work and assists them in securing the necessary equipment if a mechanical breakdown occurs
- Maintains daily production and accuracy records
- Maintains company policies and contractual agreements
- Develops productive associates through training, coaching and disciplining when necessary, in order to achieve company goals and objectives
- Develops and maintain good working relationship with all departments within supply chain
- Performs other duties as assigned, to include special projects
SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree not required but preferred
- Possess strong general knowledge of all warehousing operations, with prior work experience to include lead person or supervisory duties.
- Possess good supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results.
- Possess good communications skills, both oral and written. Possess solid computer skills with the ability to read and interpret computerized reports.
- Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
- Work is performed under typical warehouse conditions. Potential hazards exist with regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, movement of tractors and trailers, etc. Work environment is hectic, demanding, and fast paced.
- Flexible in schedule to include overnight shifts and the ability to work in temps down to -20°
