What this job involves
Assisting the HR Shared Services team
The HR Shared Services team is on the front line of HR for the 23,000 US employees (our clients) of JLL: from the job posting process; through hiring and on-boarding; by educating employees on company/local policies and procedures; assisting with life events and annual processes; and even through the off-boarding process. The HR Shared Services team truly provides cradle-to-grave support to our fellow employees. As an HR Intern, you will get the chance to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where everyone balances client needs, HR tasks, and project deadlines. Collaborating with the broader HR team
The HR Intern position is a great starting point to learn about HR and other Centers of Excellence (COEs) at JLL. The Intern position offers a solid foundation in Human Resources while providing challenging opportunities to work with HR partners across the organization.
Keen attention to detail and process improvement opportunities
The HR Intern will perform standardized HR transactions using a variety of tools including PeopleSoft and a tracking application. As a part of the HR Shared Services team, you will be a first point of contact for JLL employees who are seeking HR, benefits and/or payroll assistance. You will provide an increased level of customer support to the organization by achieving full understanding of all processes, programs and PeopleSoft activities to credibly respond to the employee or client. You will utilize your judgment to proactively identify root causes of problems through probing questions that reveal underlying issues, trends and any greater organizational impact. You will anticipate next level questions and escalate appropriately, and you will resolve issues using a combination of individual research, pre-determined escalation processes and partnership with infrastructure teams on final resolution. In many cases you will develop process improvements and implement appropriate changes, and you will utilize various training and materials to effectively and efficiently state policy and programs in a consistent manner to ensure the information provided is correct and the employee is responded to in a timely manner.
Requirements:
Education and experience
Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field. In addition, applicants should have experience in a front-line customer service role and be comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Critical thinking
HR is about people-care. We in HR Shared Services may live and breathe systems, policy and procedure but our fellow employees may not. You’ll be successful by learning to ask the right questions to understand the underlying needs of our clients.
Analytical Skills
Data and analytics are an increasingly significant component of Human Resources and HR professionals who can data mine and utilize Excel formulas to analyse data are in demand.
An effective communicator
Both written and spoken communication skills are vital to successful people-care and also to building strong team relationships
