Job Overview:

 

The Event Specialist is responsible for selling and managing events to meet Macy’s brand and profitability requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Meet and exceed all sales goals by building relationships with new clients and maintaining relationships with existing clients. 
  • Coordinates and executes all assigned events. 
  • Provides outstanding customer service and excellent food quality. 
  • Follows and ensures service team follows all service standards. 
  • Provide leadership and direct associates in providing caring hospitality and preparing craveable food. 
  • Ensures on time set up and break down of all events meeting Food Division Best Practices. 
  • Maintain role model standards in grooming, professional appearance, and communications. 
  • Follows and ensure team follows Food Division Standards and Best Practices. 
  • Demonstrate a positive role model for Magic Selling. 
  • Ensures food quality is monitored with a pre-event line check. 
  • Maintain timely, professional and accurate communication to clients. 
  • Assist in the accountability of sales, expenses, and bottom-line profits. 
  • Maintain catering associate contact and availability information. 
  • Meet high standards of workplace sanitation and equipment care and safety as set by the Health Department and company policy. 
  • Assist in on-going training and staff motivation to service associates to promote team satisfaction and minimize turnover. 
  • Provide education and training to service team on product knowledge, service standards, and alcohol awareness. 
  • Assist with scheduling and complete weekly payroll to maximize associate productivity, labor cost control, and customer satisfaction. 
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.   

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Preferred College degree and previous hospitality/food service/project management experience. Safe food handling certification is required.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports, procedure manuals and recipes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Understanding of P&L statements, food costs and payroll budgets.  

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to anticipate and solve problems.

Physical Demands:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve long periods of time sitting at a desk. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must be able to move and/or lift at least 30 lbs. This position is exposed to high levels of heat within an enclosed space.

Other skills:

  • Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills. Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position is required to use potentially hazardous restaurant equipment. Must role model safe equipment use and food safety practices. Working understanding of Windows based systems.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
