Internal Communications Manager

Position Summary:

THE ROLE
The role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the US communication strategy for the AIM 2020 program ensuring that all US audiences and stakeholders know about the program, its activities, its aims and objectives, how it will impact them and what they must do to contribute to its success, and how it will help them be more successful.
 
The role will also support and manage other members of the US communication team as the team is established and act as a communication and engagement expert and adviser on the program.  The role will be an integral part of the global communications & change team, working across JLL to successfully design and deliver communication and change activities across AIM 2020 globally.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
COMMUNICATION         

  • Work with the US program leadership and the global communications and change team to design a communication strategy for the overall program in the US focusing especially on 2017 activities.
  • Work with the individual workstreams to develop communication strategies that build support and understanding, engage key stakeholders and audiences, and ensure deployment activities are understood and supported.
  • Define overall messages and narrative for the program and workstreams in the US.
  • Identify the different US audiences and their communication and engagement needs.
  • Identify the appropriate channels to use in communication and engagement activities.
  • Identify key stakeholders and put in place communications and management plan.
  • Provide support to the US program leadership and JLL’s US leadership team on AIM 2020 communication and engagement activities.
  • Work with the global program team to ensure alignment between global and US messaging.
  • Measure the impact of communications and messaging to ensure continued success and improvement.
  • Provide support and coaching to global, regional and local management and change colleagues.
  • Work with communication and change network to deploy communication and change activities.
CHANGE MANAGEMENT
  • Work with the US Change Lead and workstream change leads to develop and execute the change strategy and on delivery of the change and communication program.
  • Integrate appropriate change activities and communications into communication and engagement planning.
  • Work closely with the US and workstream change leads to agree focus of change activities and how to resolve risks and issues relating to change activities.
  • Support change managers in affected business areas in preparation for transition to new ways of working.
 
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with identified key stakeholders.
  • Provide advice and guidance to program on stakeholder management.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external consulting partners PwC.
  • Influence key senior stakeholders to obtain ongoing sponsorship and support.
 
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Build and maintain communication program documentation, tracking activities, deliverables, risks etc.
  • Keep the program and workstreams advised of the progress of deliverables against plan and adjust the plan as necessary in line with workstream and program changes.
  • Advise the program director and others on the required resourcing, timing etc to carry out communication activities.
  • Advise the program and workstreams of the implication for communication activities of changes to program plans.
  • Establish KPIs for the communication strategy and measure progress towards these KPIs. Develop additional communication strategies in response to feedback from audiences and stakeholders.
  • Support workstream teams to integrate communication activities into their project plans.
 
TEAMWORK
  • Optimize and continually develop relationships with Finance and HR teams.
  • Work with communication colleagues to ensure change and communication activities are aligned and coordinated.
  • Support the building of a sense of team responsibility and accountability across the communications team, including the communication and change network and as a member of the global communications and change leadership.
  • Understand the communications and change team objectives and accountabilities, while also being aware of the wider program team’s priorities. Maintain a flexible approach to changing priorities.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Very strong experience of leading the development and delivery of communication strategies during international transformation program.
  • Solid understanding of change strategies in large international transformation program.
  • Demonstrable experience of project management in an international, matrixed transformation program.
  • Experience of working with international and cross cultural teams. Leading virtual teams and leading groups where there is no direct reporting relationship.
  • Working with and influencing/coaching senior executives in an organization.
  • Implementing communication strategies and working with change teams to align change and communication activities to maximize their impact.
  • Experience of leading communication planning workshops, preferred.
  • Experience of having implemented communication and change strategies that effect long-term culture change, preferred.
  • Experience in real estate, preferred.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • An understanding of the nature of organizational change and the internal communication and engagement that is required, both at a strategic and tactical level.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of employee communications and engagement; ideally gained from a large company background
  • Facilitation and communication skills. 
  • An ability to understand and draw on a range of tactical activities and techniques needed to make communication successful.
  • An understanding of the nature of change, its people impacts and how to ensure colleagues are able to take on new ways of working.
  • An ability to work with senior leaders and other stakeholders to gain their buy in and ongoing proactive support.
  • Program management skills.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and implement plans through a matrix of local communication and change leads, champion networks etc.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations, dealing with complexity and time pressure.
  • High energy, tenacious with a passion to deliver.
  • Ability to generate insight from data and evidence.
  • Organizational design and people capability building.
  • Ability to use business insights to drive change in people management practices.
  • Commercially astute, ability to manage headcount.
  • Ability to work with potential resistance from stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office proficient.
  • English – Fluent, other languages welcome.
