The PPG Chicago coatings plant is growing and needs a dynamic Maintenance Supervisor who will be part of the plant leadership team and report to the Plant Manager. S/he will be accountable for running the maintenance function, including maintenance and process improvements to plant equipment and infrastructure, and support of capital projects.
In this leadership role s/he will be expected to be very hands on with these functions while also providing supervision to two union Maintenance Mechanics. This position provides a terrific opportunity to develop and operate a maintenance team in an expanding and developing plant.
In order to become successful s/he must quickly learn and asses maintenance functions and be able to lead the team in improving machine productivity, process efficiency, quality, down time, and cost efficiency by defining and implementing corrective and preventive actions for manufacturing process issues and maintenance.
Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for sustaining a preventative maintenance program and continuing to drive towards reliability excellence
Identify and utilize quality contractors
Support the installation of new equipment and provide direct support trouble shooting and repairing plant equipment and infrastructure and assure of safety compliance and training.
Support the production site with significant floor presence with all cross-functional departments, including production, supply chain, finance, technical laboratories and administrative areas.
Provide strong leadership, mentorship and training to Maintenance Mechanics.

Required Qualifications:
At least 5 years of direct maintenance experience in a process manufacturing and industrial environment.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience and evidence of successfully developing a team
At least 3 years of experience supporting or leading preventative maintenance programs.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to Required Qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree
Experience within chemical, paint or coatings manufacturing
Lean experience
Skills:
Proven ability to solve problems to the root cause and provide necessary corrective action with associates in reaching consensus problem resolution
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work well and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Strong ability to effectively develop and lead a team, grasp concepts quickly, and articulate ideas effectively.
